Stachys macrantha ‘Betonica Grandiflora’, commonly known as Big Betony or Large-Flowered Betony, is a sturdy herbaceous perennial that produces dense spikes of showy tubular flowers in rich pink, rose-purple, or magenta-purple tones. The blooms are held on upright stems above clumps of broad, textured, dark green leaves, creating a bold yet refined appearance in the garden. Blooming from early to midsummer, this plant adds colour, structure, and pollinator value to borders, cottage gardens, woodland edges, or mixed perennial beds.

Thrives in well-drained soil with medium moisture. Avoid planting in heavy, waterlogged conditions. Requires minimal maintenance once established and performs best with good air circulation. Deadhead spent flower spikes to encourage a tidier appearance and possible additional blooms. Cut back tired foliage after flowering if needed to refresh the plant. Pairs well with salvia, geraniums, nepeta, campanula, and ornamental grasses for a colourful, layered garden display. Attracts bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects. Generally avoided by deer and rabbits. Excellent for borders, cottage-style landscapes, pollinator gardens, woodland edges, mass plantings, or mixed perennial plantings. Stachys macrantha ‘Betonica Grandiflora’ is a dependable and colorful perennial that thrives in sunny to partially shaded gardens, adding upright spikes of vivid flowers and attractive, textured foliage. Its tidy clumping habit, long-lasting blooms, and pollinator appeal make it a valuable choice for low-maintenance perennial displays.
