Solidago canadensis ‘Little Miss Sunshine’, commonly known as Little Miss Sunshine Goldenrod, is a compact herbaceous perennial that produces bright golden-yellow flower plumes in dense, upright sprays. The flowers are held above tidy clumps of narrow, lance-shaped green foliage, creating a cheerful and refined appearance in the garden. Blooming in late summer to fall, this plant adds vibrant color, texture, and valuable late-season interest to borders, pollinator gardens, cottage gardens, or sunny perennial beds.
Thrives in well-drained soil with dry to medium moisture. Avoid planting in heavy, waterlogged conditions. Requires minimal maintenance once established and shows good drought tolerance. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage a tidier appearance and reduce unwanted self-seeding. Cut back stems after flowering or leave seed heads standing for winter interest and wildlife value. Pairs well with asters, echinacea, rudbeckia, ornamental grasses, and sedum for a colourful late-season garden display. Attracts bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects. Generally avoided by deer and rabbits. Excellent for borders, pollinator plantings, cottage-style landscapes, meadow gardens, or naturalized areas.
