Monarda fistulosa, commonly known as Wild Bergamot or Bee Balm, is a fragrant herbaceous perennial that produces rounded clusters of tubular, lavender-pink to soft purple flowers. The blooms are held on upright, square stems above aromatic, lance-shaped green foliage, creating a natural and colorful appearance in the garden. Blooming in midsummer to early fall, this plant adds texture, pollinator value, and native charm to borders, meadow gardens, herb gardens, pollinator plantings, or naturalized perennial beds.

Thrives in well-drained soil with dry to medium moisture. Avoid planting in heavy, waterlogged conditions. Requires minimal maintenance once established and shows good drought tolerance compared to many other Monarda varieties. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage a tidier appearance and prolong flowering, or leave seed heads for winter interest and wildlife value. Divide clumps every few years to maintain vigor and improve air circulation. Pairs well with echinacea, rudbeckia, liatris, asters, and ornamental grasses for a colorful, wildlife-friendly garden display. Attracts bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and other beneficial pollinators. Generally avoided by deer and rabbits. Excellent for native plant gardens, sunny borders, cottage-style landscapes, pollinator gardens, meadow plantings, or naturalized areas. Monarda fistulosa is a dependable and aromatic native perennial that thrives in sunny gardens, adding lavender-pink blooms and strong ecological value through the summer season. Its fragrant foliage, drought tolerance, and exceptional pollinator appeal make it a valuable choice for low-maintenance and wildlife-friendly landscapes.
