Liatris spicata 'Spectra', commonly known as Dense Blazing Star or Gayfeather, is a herbaceous perennial celebrated for its tall, vibrant flower spikes and grass-like foliage.

'Spectra' features dense, bottlebrush-like spikes of bright purple flowers that bloom from the top down, atop sturdy, erect stems. The basal clump of narrow, green, grass-like leaves adds texture and visual interest to the garden.

'Spectra' is hardy in USDA Zones 3 through 9, making it suitable for a wide range of climates. It prefers moist, well-drained soils and is tolerant of drought once established. The flowers are highly attractive to butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators, enhancing the ecological value of your garden. Additionally, the plant is deer-resistant and makes an excellent choice for borders, cottage gardens, and naturalized areas.

Sun Requirements:

Full sun, requiring at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily. While it can tolerate light shade, full sun exposure ensures optimal flowering and growth.

Maximum Growth Height:

Typically reaches a height of 3 to 4 feet (90 to 120 cm) and spreads about 1 to 2 feet (30 to 60 cm), forming a clump that adds vertical interest to garden beds.

Bloom Time:
