Hosta 'Blue Ivory' is an eye-catching, clump-forming perennial known for its striking foliage. The leaves are blue-green with wide, creamy-white margins that brighten the garden. As the season progresses, the blue-green centers may soften to green, adding dynamic interest. In summer, it produces lavender flower spikes on tall scapes that rise above the foliage, adding a delicate floral touch.
Hosta 'Blue Ivory' prefers rich, well-drained, moist soils and is an excellent choice for shaded borders, woodland gardens, or containers. It is relatively low-maintenance and deer-resistant, though additional protection may be needed in areas with heavy deer populations. The contrasting foliage pairs beautifully with ferns, astilbes, or other shade-loving plants, creating a lush, textured garden display. Regular watering and occasional fertilization will help keep the plant vibrant and healthy.
Sun Requirements:
Partial Shade to Full Shade. Thrives in shaded or partially shaded areas but can tolerate some morning sun in cooler climates.
Maximum Growth Height:
16–18 inches (40–45 cm), with flower scapes rising to about 24 inches (60 cm).
Bloom Month:
July to August: Blooms in mid to late summer with lavender flowers that attract pollinators like bees.
