Hemerocallis 'Purple d'Oro', commonly known as the Purple d'Oro Daylily, is a compact, herbaceous perennial celebrated for its prolific blooming and vibrant, reddish-purple flowers. Each bloom measures approximately 2.75 inches (7 cm) in diameter, featuring ruffled edges and a contrasting yellowish throat. The plant forms neat clumps of arching, grass-like foliage, providing a lush, green backdrop to its colorful blooms.
This daylily is hardy in USDA Zones 3 through 9, making it suitable for a wide range of climates. It prefers average, moist but well-drained soils and is tolerant of heat and summer humidity. 'Purple d'Oro' is also drought-tolerant once established and resistant to deer and rabbits, adding to its low-maintenance appeal.
