Geum triflorum, commonly known as Prairie Smoke, is a charming native perennial celebrated for its unique, nodding pink blooms and feathery seed heads. In spring, it sends up dusky rose, bell-shaped flowers that hang in clusters of three. As the blooms fade, they transform into wispy, smoke-like seed plumes that give the plant its common name and lasting ornamental value.
This drought-tolerant wildflower thrives in well-drained soils and is ideal for rock gardens, prairie plantings, and naturalized landscapes. Its finely divided, fern-like foliage forms a soft green mound, providing texture and ground coverage. Geum triflorum is low-maintenance, pollinator-friendly, and adapts well to dry or gravelly sites.
