Echinacea purpurea 'Rubinstern,' commonly known as Ruby Star Coneflower, is a robust and vibrant perennial featuring large, daisy-like flowers. Its petals are a rich, deep ruby-red, held horizontally around a prominent, spiky, coppery-orange cone, making it more striking than traditional coneflowers. The plant has a sturdy, upright growth habit with dark green, lance-shaped leaves, making it a reliable choice for mixed borders, cottage gardens, or wildlife-friendly spaces.
This long-lasting perennial is easy to grow in well-drained, moderately fertile soil and is drought-tolerant once established. 'Rubinstern' is highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and birds, and its seed heads add winter interest if left untrimmed. Regular deadheading can encourage prolonged blooming, but allowing some flowers to go to seed supports naturalizing and provides a food source for wildlife.
