Crocosmia 'Red King'

Crocosmia × crocosmiiflora 'Red King' is a compact, clump-forming perennial that adds a vibrant splash of color to gardens with its bright red, funnel-shaped flowers. The plant features narrow, strap-like, mid-green leaves that provide a lush backdrop to its striking blooms.

In Zone 4, it requires special care to survive the winter. To enhance its chances of overwintering successfully, consider planting the corms deeper than usual and applying a thick layer of mulch in the fall to insulate the roots. Alternatively, you can lift the corms in the fall and store them in a cool, dry place over winter, replanting them in the spring after the danger of frost has passed. 

Sun Requirements:

Full sun but can tolerate partial shade. For optimal flowering, plant in a location that receives at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily.

28 inches (70 cm) and a spread of 24 inches (60 cm), forming a compact, upright clump suitable for various garden settings.
