Crocosmia 'Lucifer'

Crocosmia 'Lucifer' is a striking perennial known for its vibrant, flame-red, tubular flowers and graceful, arching stems. The plant's sword-like, green foliage adds a dramatic, spiky texture to the garden, making it a standout choice for adding vertical interest and a tropical flair to perennial borders. 

In Zone 4, it requires special care to survive the winter. To enhance its chances of overwintering successfully, consider planting the corms deeper than usual and applying a thick layer of mulch in the fall to insulate the roots. Alternatively, you can lift the corms in the fall and store them in a cool, dry place over winter, replanting them in the spring after the danger of frost has passed. 

Sun Requirements:

Full sun, requiring at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily. While it can tolerate partial shade, full sun exposure ensures optimal flowering and growth.

Maximum Growth Height:

36 to 42 inches (90 to 106 cm) and spreads about 12 to 18 inches (30 to 45 cm), forming a clump of upright, arching stems.
