Crocosmia 'Harlequin' PBR is a captivating perennial renowned for its vibrant, bicolor blooms that add a dynamic splash of color to summer gardens. This variety features star-shaped flowers with golden-yellow throats and alternating red and orange hues on the reverse of the petals, creating a striking visual effect. The blossoms are borne on arching, purplish stems above lush, mid-green, lance-shaped foliage, contributing to its ornamental appeal.
In Zone 4, it requires special care to survive the winter. To enhance its chances of overwintering successfully, consider planting the corms deeper than usual and applying a thick layer of mulch in the fall to insulate the roots. Alternatively, you can lift the corms in the fall and store them in a cool, dry place over winter, replanting them in the spring after the danger of frost has passed.
