Calamagrostis brachytricha, commonly known as Korean Feather Reed Grass, is a clump-forming ornamental grass with arching, green foliage that turns a beautiful golden hue in the fall. In late summer, it produces showy, fluffy, pink-tinged flower plumes that rise above the foliage, maturing to a soft tan as they persist into winter. Its graceful, airy plumes create a dynamic and elegant presence in mixed borders, naturalistic plantings, and modern garden designs.

Calamagrostis brachytricha grows best in moist, well-drained soils but is adaptable to a variety of conditions, including clay soils. It is drought-tolerant once established, although consistent moisture enhances its performance. Minimal maintenance is required; cut it back to the ground in late winter or early spring to encourage fresh growth. This grass pairs beautifully with late-season perennials like asters, rudbeckia, and echinacea, as well as ornamental shrubs, to create layered, textured garden displays. Deer- and rabbit-resistant, it also attracts birds that enjoy its seed heads in winter. With its soft, feathery plumes and versatility, Korean Feather Reed Grass is an excellent choice for borders, meadows, and naturalistic landscapes, adding year-round elegance and movement to any garden.
