Antennaria dioica, commonly known as Mountain Everlasting or Pussytoes, is a mat-forming perennial that creates a soft carpet of silvery-gray, woolly foliage. In late spring to early summer, it produces clusters of small, button-like flowers that are typically white to pale pink. This low-growing plant is excellent for rock gardens, borders, and as a ground cover, particularly in dry, sunny areas.
Prefers well-drained, sandy, or rocky soils. Tolerates poor, nutrient-deficient soils and thrives in dry conditions. This is a low-maintenance plant. Avoid overwatering, as it prefers dry conditions. Remove spent flowers to maintain a tidy appearance. Combines beautifully with other rock garden plants like sedums, thyme, or dianthus. Attracts bees and butterflies. Excellent for erosion control on slopes or in dry, sunny areas. A resilient plant ideal for xeriscaping or low-water gardens. Antennaria dioica is a charming, easy-to-grow perennial that adds a soft, silvery texture to gardens while providing ecological benefits. Its low-growing habit and drought tolerance make it an excellent choice for sunny, dry spaces.
