Alcea rosea 'Summer Carnival,' commonly known as Summer Carnival Hollyhock, is a striking biennial or short-lived perennial that produces tall spikes of large, fully double, ruffled blooms in a vibrant mix of colors, including pink, red, yellow, and white. The flowers grow on strong, upright stems above a rosette of large, lobed green leaves, making this variety an excellent choice for creating vertical accents in cottage gardens or along walls and fences.

Prefers well-drained, moderately fertile soil. Keep the soil consistently moist during the growing season, but avoid water-logging. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage prolonged flowering, and cut back the plant after the flowering season to tidy up. Staking may be needed to support the tall flower spikes in windy areas. This variety readily self-seeds, ensuring a continuous presence in the garden year after year. Attracts bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Its coarse stems and foliage help deter deer and rabbits. Perfect for cottage gardens, back borders, or as a standalone vertical feature. With its stunning double blooms and bold height, Alcea rosea 'Summer Carnival' brings drama and a vibrant splash of color to any sunny garden space. Pair it with other cottage garden favorites like delphiniums, foxgloves, or lavender for a charming and classic look.
