Achillea tomentosa 'Golden Fleece,' commonly known as Woolly Yarrow, is a low-growing, mat-forming perennial with soft, finely divided, silvery-gray to green foliage. It is named for its woolly, textured leaves. This variety produces vibrant, golden-yellow, flat-topped flower clusters on short stems, making it an excellent choice for rock gardens, borders, or as a ground cover. Its compact size and bright blooms create a cheerful display in sunny garden spots.

Achillea tomentosa 'Golden Fleece' thrives in well-drained, sandy, or rocky soils and is highly drought-tolerant once established, making it ideal for xeriscaping or low-maintenance gardens. It attracts pollinators such as bees and butterflies while being deer- and rabbit-resistant. This hardy perennial requires minimal maintenance and benefits from occasional deadheading to encourage prolonged blooming. It pairs well with other drought-tolerant plants like sedum, thyme, or lavender for a vibrant and textured garden display. It’s also excellent for erosion control on slopes or in sunny, dry areas.
